Gynaecomastia is breast development that occurs in male. It can happen at any age and for a number of different reasons.
Gynaecomastia or 'Male Breast' is the presence of glands in male chest area (in women such glands produce milk for breast feeding of baby after pregnancy). In the chest area some resistant fat may also get deposited giving the appearance of a female like breast.
Male Breast results from an imbalance between androgen (male hormone) and oestrogen (female hormone) activity. The hormonal imbalance that results in the deposition of glands in the chest areas is usually temporary and commonly occurs in boys at the time of puberty (14 yrs – 18yrs). Once the glands are laid down in the chest area, they do not regress. Sometime the male breast develop due to obesity but cannot be treated by diet control or exercise. Also, since it is usually not due to any disease process, there are no medicines that can be given to treat this condition. Surgery is the only treatment.
Gynaecomastia is defined clinically by the presence of a rubbery or firm mass extending concentrically from the nipples. The condition known as pseudogynecomastia, or lipomastia, is characterized by fat deposition without glandular proliferation. Although gynaecomastia is usually bilateral, it can be unilateral.
At aesthetix we treat this problem by using scar-less surgery using spical technique liposuction and special cannulas.
